Another update in a small garden we built back in ‘22. This time with the help of Paula’s keen eye @stem_gardens . Lovely Olive tree from Acorn Nurseries finishes off that corner and some new planting will bring some colour to the east border. York Stone washed, ipe deck cleaned and ready for its annual oil.

Summer update complete on Bedford’s only public living wall. Always a pleasure to spend the day at @thestore_bedford under a canopy of Fatsia Japonica. A few old favourites added… Osteospurmum and Percicaria plus a few surprises that will reveal themselves as the season progresses. Hats off to @vanillatreebedford for the best value bagel and coffee in town …

Back in a garden we planted last spring. Looking fabulous in the autumn sunshine. Stunning grasses, verbena and persicaria thriving with the joyous kaffir lilly adding wonderful autumn colour

I love roses… so why has it taken me over 50 years to own one? Now I’ve got 5! First ever attempt at rose cuttings… yay!

New Living Wall underway…

The Living Wall at The Store in Bedford has been through a hard winter. From leaking pipes to the water source for the automated irrigation being turned off for a month over Xmas, it’s amazing it has survived. But it’s bouncing back. We took a quick look this week and just loved the Lonicera nit. 'Maigrün' in flower. Usually used as hedging, it’s rare to see the delicate bloom!

Absolute carnage on the lilac tree this year… it’s going to fall over from the weight of flowers… 😀

Did we mention we love a small garden? Love the large format slate picking up colour from the front wall and bay window detail. Lovely pink blossom on this weeping crap apple, underplanted with Euphorbia. Plus Echinacea, Hebe, Viburnum Nudum, Verbena and alliums.

Can’t wait for these heads to burst open… first time I’ve let this monster go to flower… “can ya guess what it is yet?”

Looking forward to keeping this garden on Park Avenue in good order this year… lovely spot.
